At Monahan Family and Cosmetic Dentistry we can help patients:
A tooth-colored composite resin may be used to repair chips, cracks, small gaps, and discolored teeth. Composite resin is durable dental plastic, mixed with tiny glass particles for a natural, almost clear appearance. Essentially, composite resin bonding material mimics tooth enamel.
During this procedure, Dr. Monahan will apply composite resin to the front surface of a tooth to achieve the desired appearance. Composite resin will be shaped, smoothed, and polished after it is applied. As a result, concealing a variety of minor cosmetic imperfections without altering the natural structures of the tooth.
Porcelain veneers, or dental veneers are thin, custom made shells that permanently attach to the front surface of the tooth. Veneers conceal imperfections, such as tooth color, shape, size, and tooth alignment. Even better, our CEREC® technology provides the ability to custom design and make the veneer the same-day.
To emphasize, we have eliminated the long wait time by investing in advanced dental technology. Now, Dr. Monahan can design, fabricate, and permanently affix custom-made veneers in just one office visit. Even better, no more impressions.
Crown lengthening – also known as gum contouring or gum lift – is a procedure to expose natural teeth covered by excess gum tissue, also known as gummy smile. Dr. Monahan uses a safe, precise, and minimally invasive soft tissue laser to reshape gums. Simultaneously, the dental laser removes excess gum tissue and seals the gums. As a result, laser dental treatments eliminate the need for stitches.
A gummy smile is the most common dental condition that a dentist treats with a crown lengthening procedure. Generally, patients experience few if any significant side effects from gum contouring, and very little down time. Patients with a gummy smile have excess gum tissue that makes their teeth look shorter. An uneven gum-line can also cause teeth to appear different sizes.
The Opalescence® whitening gel that we use could whiten your teeth up to five shades whiter. Whereas, over the counter (OTC) whitening gel may only improve the shade of teeth by one or two shades. Meanwhile, your results will depend on other factors, such as the type of stains or previous restorations.
